Teak as an Alternative to Gmelina arborea
1997

Teak cultivation is a lucrative investment. It is well-known for its quality and is recognized as one of the most valuable timber. One hectare of land planted to teak in Pangil, Laguna was established to study its behavior and at the same time serve as a source of explant of teak in the Philippines. Intercropping coconut with teak will provide an additional income for the coconut farmers.

Makapuno Agronomic Studies
1999

Two makapuno hybrids, VMAC-1 and VMAC-2 have been developed at the Regional Coconut Research Center of VISCA. These two makapuno hybrids are observed to be self-pollinating and precocious. Initial observations of the performance of a few trees under experimental field conditions show encouraging results on yield of makapuno nuts and bearing age.

Establishment of Satellite Laboratory at Region 8
1999

The project aimed to produce makapuno embryo-cultured planting materials and tissue-cultured crops such as lakatan and pineapple. The satellite lab is expected to supply in vitro grown makapuno and other seedlings for intercrop.
