Development of Low Cost Electronic Moisture Meter for Copra
August 1, 1978

The approach on the development of the electronic moisture meter is based on the principle that water molecules are natural electronic dipoles. To develop the device, the correlation between moisture content and electric permittivity of the meat was determined.

Research Fellows
January 1, 1984

Eight Research Fellowships in selected research graduate institutions such as UP Los Banos (UPLB), UP Diliman (UPD), VisCA, University of Southern Mindanao (USM), Mindanao State University (MSU), CRC, and PCARRD were provided. Research fellows were chosen based on the following: at least a Master of Science degree, held the rank of assistant professor, have served the institution for at least three (3) years, and had shown capability and willingness to undertake research projects directly related to coconut.

PCRDF Professorial Chairholders
July 1, 1977

Professorial Chairholders were chosen based on the following: at least a Master of Science degree, held the rank of assistant professor, have served the institution for at least three (3) years, and had shown capability and willingness to undertake research projects directly related to coconut.

Coconut Chemistry and Technology
September 1, 1978

This is the first attempt to compile literature on food chemistry and technology of the coconut meat and its components. The contents are mostly studies conducted at UPLB, NIST, PCA, as well as those published in local and foreign journals that are locally available.

Extraction and Characterization of Copra Meal Proteins
March 30, 1978

Treatment of defatted copra meal with 5% (w/v) H2SO4 in the autoclave for one hour at 20 psi steam pressure and 7/1 acid-to-solid ratio resulted in the extraction of 41.7% of copra proteins; Sephadex G-200 chromatography of the copra meal extract gave highest molecular weights of proteins.
