Coconut Rehabilitation Manual

Most of the coconut farms in the country are owned by small coconut farmers while the average coconut farm holding is only about 2-3 hectares. Most of these farms have low productivity which can be attributed to the low-level knowledge of the farmers on coconut-based technologies. Besides, most of the existing coconut trees are beyond the senescent stage. Thus, there is the need to rehabilitate these coconut farms.

Publication of PCRDF Lectures

The PCRDF supported Professorial Chairholders and Research Fellows who were required to deliver lectures at least once a year on topics related to the coconut industry. These lectures gave valuable information which could be used by interested students nad teachers. Thus, a compilation of these lectures were made for convenient information retrieval.

The study aimed to come up with some options for the government regarding the issues on the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program. Recommendations on Land Reform in the coconut areas were established.

State-of-the-Art Assessment of Copra Cake Utilization

The copra meal industry is faced with a bleak future because of the European Economic Community’s (EEC) intention to impose a restriction on the aflatoxin requirement of its copra meal imports. Thus, it was deemed reasonable to assess and evaluate a technology to improve copra cake digestability and to eventually diversify its uses. The use of microorganisms (microbial inoculum) as feed additives is a possible check for aflatoxin and a potential method in improving digestability of copra cake and eventually copra meal.
